YouTube playbook

Where your link goes on YouTube, how to describe, pin and promote it, and how to use Shorts.

2 min read · Updated October 2026

YouTube sends people who really want to learn from you. Old videos keep getting views for years, so every video is a long-term salesperson for your page.

  1. 1

    Channel links

Customize channel, Links. It shows right on your banner.

  2. 2

First line of every video description

Above the Show more cut. Example: "My presets, guides and everything I use → sygil.app/yourname".

  3. 3

    Pinned comment

Pin your link on every video. Example: "Everything from this video, plus a free [thing], is here: sygil.app/yourname".

  4. 4

    Posts

Use YouTube Posts or the community tab whenever you drop something new.

  5. 5

    Say it in the video

"Link's in the description" and "everything I use is on my Sygil".

Description (first two lines)
My presets, guides & everything I use → sygil.app/yourname
Free [thing] → sygil.app/yourname/vault

Make videos that sell your page

  • Reference your free item in the video where it helps: "I made a checklist for this. It is free on my page."
  • Mention a limited drop in the description, with the date.
  • Use end-of-video sections to point to your Links tab with all your gear and discount codes.
  • Make a short "how I use my page" video for new viewers.

Shorts

Shorts reach people who are not subscribers. Links in Shorts are limited, so lean on your channel links and say the CTA out loud: "Everything I use is on my Sygil. The link is on my channel." See Short-form video.

Affiliate products

Put your gear in the Links tab as product cards, with coupon codes. Replace the 20 links in your descriptions with one line: "Everything I use is on sygil.app/yourname".
