How Auto-DM works

Ask people to comment a word on your Reel, and Sygil instantly sends each commenter a DM with your link. Comments push your Reel to more people, and the DM lands where people actually tap.

The flow#

1. 1

You post a Reel or post

It ends with: "Comment GUIDE and I'll send it to you."

2. 2

   A fan comments the keyword

Sygil receives the comment through Instagram's official webhook. It checks your rules.

3. 3

   Optional public reply

Sygil can reply under the comment ("Sent you a DM"), picking one of your variations at random so it looks natural.

4. 4

   Opening DM

Instagram allows one private message in reply to a comment, so Sygil sends a short opening message with a button.

5. 5

   Follow check (optional)

If you turned on Ask to follow first, the fan must follow you before the link unlocks.

6. 6

   Your link

When the fan taps the button, a full conversation opens and Sygil sends your message with up to three link buttons. Clicks are tracked.

Three triggers#

What you need#

• An Instagram Business or Creator account (personal accounts can switch for free in Instagram settings).
• Instagram's Allow access to messages turned on for connected tools.
• Something to send: a Sygil item link, your page, or any other link.

Safety and rules#

• Sygil connects through Instagram Login, Instagram's official API. We never see your password and you can disconnect at any time.
• Automations only reply to people who comment or message you first.
• Automations must follow Instagram's Community Guidelines and Meta's policies. No spam, misleading messages or content you do not have the right to share. Sygil may pause automations that break the rules.
• Auto-DM is included on every Sygil page at no extra cost.
