What is on you

  • You are responsible for income tax, GST and any other taxes on your earnings.
  • Sygil's platform fee already includes any GST payable on Sygil's fee. This does not cover tax on your own sales.
  • You must own the rights to everything you sell and describe it accurately.

Keep your records

  • Download or note your payout history from Billing and payouts.
  • Keep a record of items sold. Analytics shows revenue over time and item performance.
  • Save invoices for tools and equipment you used to make the products.
  • Separate business and personal bank activity where you can.

Questions to ask a CA

  • Do I need to register for GST, and from what turnover?
  • How should I classify income from digital products, courses and calls?
  • How do I treat Fan Points discounts in my books?
  • What records should I keep for brand deals and affiliate income?

Content rules that touch compliance

You agree not to sell anything illegal, harmful, adult or that infringes someone's rights, not to make misleading claims or promise financial returns, and to follow consumer protection law. Read Content rules and the Terms.

Affiliate disclosures

If you earn commission from links on your Links tab, say so clearly. Platforms and local advertising rules often require it.

Common questions

Does Sygil send me an invoice or tax form?

Sygil's platform fee already includes any GST payable on it. Your payout history and the earnings shown in Billing and payouts are your records of what you were paid.

Is a Fan Points discount a business expense?

That is an accounting question. Ask your CA how to record discounts you give to customers.

What if I live outside India?

You are responsible for tax in your country. Payouts go to PayPal or Wise, and your accountant can advise on reporting.
